50 & Forward Campaign Raises $4.2 Million
With heartfelt gratitude, the Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF) is pleased to announce that our LAF: 50 & Forward Campaign raised $4,230,000 to support landscape architecture research, scholarships, and leadership initiatives. The 1.5-year-long campaign concluded on December 31, 2016, with 55 companies and 92 individuals contributing.
Soundly surpassing the campaign’s initial goal of $3.5 million, the funds raised will be used to expand LAF’s existing programs and support new initiatives to increase the capacity of the profession to meet the demands of the 21st century.
Three of the major campaign initiatives are already underway:
- Last fall, we launched the LAF Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership, 3-5 annual awards of $25,000 for mid-career and senior level professionals to incubate new ideas. We received over 50 applications and will announce the inaugural group of Fellows in February.
- In 2016, we launched the endowed $20,000 LAF Honor Scholarship in Memory of Joe Lalli and will make the second annual award this spring.
- We’ve been building our Olmsted Scholars Program infrastructure to better connect and engage this growing group of over 400 rising young leaders.
For 50 years, LAF has worked to provide knowledge and resources to enable landscape architects to use their unique skills to change the world. The campaign provides critical support to help LAF continue this legacy of leadership and rise to take on current challenges.
